I just finished reading an article in Embedded Systems Programming and it talks about the rising importance of "smart antennas" for wireless devices. These are antennas which can adapt to changing signal strength and direction and so make the most of the spectrum.

I found a little information about satellite antennas, but I was wondering if any companies are working on adaptive antennas for mass markets like cell phones. Any info?
