Nigeria letter:

A letter like that hit so many of my contacts that I contacted the FBI. They asked us all to send them the letters. They have a huge file on this fraud. Call them yourself and check it out. I even think they have a web site for this fraud but I can not remember the url.

Nigeria is incredible. My brother lived in Newburyport, MA some ten years ago. A neighbor was a Pulitzer prize winning photographer working for the Boston Globe. He got a letter from some supposedly lofty Nigerian official requesting that he and a reporter from the Globe come to Nigeria, all expenses paid, to see that Nigeria was really doing quite a lot about human rights.

They were met at the airport by a big black limo and lots of uniformed officials. Within half an hour they were prisoners out in the slums, locked up with a demand that they request The Globe to forward $1mm for their release. I do not know how it was settled, but at some expense to The Globe they both returned to the States after a few weeks.
