Hello Everyone,

I had similar thoughts to Jack's early in the Automatic Investor development cycle. I'd experimented with using technical analysis with AIM by adding a module we called "IntelliTrend." It basically used a combination of bollinger bands and the trend to modify the amount of an AIM recommended trade. AIM still controlled when to trade, but IntelliTrend took the amount and either increased or decreased it based on the TA. Unfortunately it didn't give good results during testing, so it was never released.

However I do think that TA can be used in conjunction with AIM to improve returns while maintaining risk levels -- but further research and testing needs to be done.
