Robert - re:"Cut your racist convictions."
Europeans are a RACE now? That's pretty far fetched.

On my last visit to Oracle, the meeting consisted of 3 Brits, a Frenchman, an Italian and 2 native-born US folks. Just one data point, but it kind of supports Cheryl's observation.

What "RACE" would you say those people comprised? Or is it kind of hard to guess just based on national origin?

You WERE joking, I hope.

rudedog,

I do not believe that Robert was Joking.

First of all the remark was Europeons (implying Europeans are peons, peasants).

Not making the reference that "Europeans" is a race.

The "racists" part comes from the fact that the comment is demeaning or derogative to Europeans, that as "peons" they (as a group), are lesser than others. Perhaps a better term would have been "prejudist".... (from prejudice) or "discriminatory".

The point here is that the comment of "Europeons" is the key in Robert response.

That is my opinion, but I would let Robert answer for himself.

For your benefit, below are the definitions of the relevant words made reference to, (see the bolded parts), and the entire paragraph of the original post to which Robert responded, which is a bit different to what you understood from Robert's response.

Original paragraph:

Silicon Valley is crammed FULL of Europeons. They're all here for the same reason: opportunity. I work with them, I've talked to them about this & they all have the same opinion: it's a better live & work environment here than where they live especially when it comes to income tax, which is nothing short of confiscatory in the EU.
