Aloha Thread,

here's another article about AMD tripping a little :

AMD Gets a Thumbs Down. Link at
electronicnews.com

BTW, check out the report Albert posted on Moderated AMD thread at
Message 14796953

"Intel also announced that it has completed
development of its next generation 0.13 micron process technology, which should
generate processors running at 1.6 GHz, and above. Intel has talked about
producing a 2GHz Pentium 4 by Q2 of next year, which would put it ahead of AMD
in terms of processor speed, but not necessarily in overall performance."

If they are talking about PIII running at 1.6GHz or higher, that is great news. Would be near impossible for AMD to get any significant share of mobile market and it is great news for competing on price/performance against desktop Athlon (or even just performance). However, trying to find separate niches for p3 xeons (on .13), foster and Itanium is going to be tricky. Any thoughts on how would position these products in the server space ?

Maui.
