Japan's Ministry of Health and Welfare may earmark more than 10 trillion yen
(about $9.2 billion) of public pension assets into the Japanese stock market over
the next 10 years in an attempt to achieve a stable annual return of around 4.5
percent, reported the Nihon Keizai Shimbun in its Thursday edition. The ministry
is slated to take over full control of public pension investments starting in fiscal
2001, the Japanese daily noted.
