Good point. In '97 the fundamentals were looking awesome for the C$. I thought, OK, if my US investments go up 15%, and the C$ goes up 10%, then my US stuff doesn't look so good. So I started lightening up. God, that was stupid. Our trade balance was looking so good because our recovery lagged theirs; we were exporting lots to fuel their expansion. Once that money trickled through our economy, we made up by hugely increasing our imports. End of upward pressure on the currency. So I sold out of the last two years of the bull in the States, and kept the money at home. Dumb, dumb, dumb ......
