Ray- To prove I can be pessimistic as the next person, and to show I don't totally have blinders on, check out what I posted below.

Re: Looming Disaster or Minor Correction?

....I'm cutting back on posting articles and comments because the news out of Korea, Hong Kong and Japan is simply terrible. This morning I even noticed some bad news out of Malaysia too. In the last week it has gotten progressively worse...To add salt to the wounds, Microsoft, Intel, and Cisco all have problems...MikeM(From Florida)

At the time I posted the above, one would be hard pressed to convince me we weren't headed for a MAJOR recession. That whole experience taught me recessions can't be predicted anymore than the weather. In spite of unanimous opinion at the time, the Asian crisis did not tumble the US into a recession. On the contrary, that crisis kept inflation in check and Greenspan off the brake pedal for years while our economy kept expanding. Which in turn lifted a lot of other economies out of the gutter.

Personally I can barely keep up with my investments in the telecom sector so I give up trying to predict macro economic events. But I can highly recommend the Asia Forum thread for discussion if you believe that indeed we may be heading into a repeat Asian Crisis. -MikeM(From Florida)
