I haven't heard the Korean rumors so far. If, I would not be very concerned:

- Chipmaking is not assembly, this is a different issue.

- This is is a King & Princes game, i.e. it is about size and management execution. I can not see how a new entrant can become competitive to SLR, FLEX, JBL and al. short term (SANM is doing different things anyway).

- Logistic value chains are interwoven, so there are some significant switching costs for the customers.

- All the big ECMs are present in Asia, so I don't see a immediate competitive advantage for the Koreans.

I acknowledge this could be a interesting market for Koreans, meeting their specific skills on the world manufacturing markets, i.e. high volume, high fixed costs productions. It is not unlikely we see Koreans in the market on the long run. However, this will likely take some time (=years).
