there has been some discussion on SSF on SI.
try a search.
I recall some recent posts on The Final Frontier thread.
at first I was skeptical as well, but I think it could be good. Louis has insight as well.
I think the would settle to the underlying, not cash. BWDIK.
I think once stock traders figure out SSF don't require a downtick to short and don't require a borrow, they'll be all over it.
luckily margins are meant to be comparable to current or options would get hurt and there'd be a lot more speculation since futures margins are typically a lot, lot lower.
