Hi Bernie: Your observation on cloud cover is exactly correct. Clouds at night literally act as a blanket, trapping the collected heat which is trying to radiate back into space from whence it came. Here in Dallas, we have a great meteorologist on the local NBC affiliate who has explained this many times. Regards, Steve
