JDN:
I'm with you. I also believe that Mr. Greenspan's rate rises and talk had a significant part in generating the worst loss of wealth in history. He and his cronies are essentially racist and class-centric. They saw common people acquiring wealth and called it a public policy problem--"The Wealth Effect"--translated as, Oh Sh*t, now "they" have wealth too. Although the Fed cannot be held responsible for the entire slow down, it sure was the catalyst, and we are now in a truly frightening situation. The NASDAQ is a major index. Already off more than 54%---and, Greenspan doesn't care, cause his cronies all own Philip Morris. I'm surprised there hasn't been more outcry, or even violence.
The Antitrust division had it all so wrong, it's pathetic.
