To all: There is money being made BOTH WAYS in this market!
I am still concerned that the media is scaring many longs away from these markets. So the purpose of this post is to destroy any myths that nobody is making money in these markets, when in fact many of us have been doing exceptionally well. . . .riding the market down slowly until we get a burst. . . riding the burst until it tires then selling into it and turning short. . . repeating as often as necessary.
One thing is for certain. . . . many stocks are moving. The microcaps are still the hottest area [on a percentage basis] if you are long. . . the high-flying high-valuation techs are money makers if you are short. And even some long-term buy & holds are doing well along the way, for those with weak stomachs.
On the short side. . . NUFO was worth 6 points on Friday. . . most all the shorts I posted this morning are down about 2 points . . and I believe this is where a decent amount has yet to be made from shorting into strength this week.
Here are some recent longs. . .[position trades, swings, rat dogs and long-termers]. . .
ATHM under $5 . . .today around $9 1/2. Message 15118453 Message 15125138 and OMKT is up over 50% since then.
Web Farms like PSIX - which was kept in our face by Sting-Ray. . . Message 15087271 Message 15159695 . . . where he "nibbles" on NPNT at 5/16. . . both PSIX and NPNT are up close to 400% in less than a month since these posts.
Note: If you haven't looked at the rest of the Web Farm list, you owe it to yourself.
Internet Advertisers . . . Message 15172333 all up sharply in less than 2 days.
A few others: Message 15115860 . . . Since Jan 3rd: MFNX up around 80% . . DRMD up about double. . ISLD up about 75%. . . GENE is up over 30%. . EBAY up over 25%. . MCOM is up over 55%. . GILTF is up over 50%. . .
On the longer side. . . [though I have sold positions and only cores remain here via Hybrid Trading]
We all had WCOM from the mid-14's. . .which is still over 20, after hitting 23.
LMG.a at $12 bucks per share. . .now $16: Message 15055977
MCOM as a long. . is up 40% or so from this post: Message 14992843
For that matter. . . . check out the current prices on this list! Message 15071024 . . I added today's price for illustration that unlike the summer time bear where not much moves, stocks now ARE moving sharply, with or without YOU. . . all of them moved up. . . and in the case of a stock like NTAP, back and forth between 50 and 60 [even $74] so many times that swing trading it was about the most obvious play in many months. .
. . . . Tech Stocks ON SALE today!! . . . . . This sure beats the malls.

NOTE!! Again, not a single stock is down from this post.
I would imagine from this news, that many of us here have done exceptionally well during December and January. I continue to urge everyone to equip themselves with WatchLists, hypothetical portfolios and other such lists that give a BETTER PICTURE of how the tech markets are trading than does the Nasdaq COMPX or the QQQ.
I use many different watchlist/Portfolios . . . I have some set up under "Short-Cover Pops", "Outpacers", "Penny picks", "Rat Dogs", etc. . which I watch often for signs of anomalies. . .or clues to upcoming moves.
If it were not for our ongoing studies, which compare high-fliers, with microcaps, with value techs, with high-growth plays, with Outpacer/Phoenix plays, with Emerging Sectors, etc, etc, it would be much harder to see what is moving and why. . . . .thanks much to all those who help initiate and maintain these studies. It is this sort of cooperation that makes it easy for so many of us here to trade off the information presented.
Thanks much,
Rande Is
