"If you are a competitive investor, you've got to assume the Fed will succeed in re-igniting the economy," said Charles Pradilla, chief market strategist at SG Cowen.

I rest easier knowing that Mr. Greenspan will be able to use liquidity and interest rate to revive the economy, and at the same time not devalue my dollar denominated assets, and guarantee that I will be able to retire on the beach in good style.

Many of us will become wealthier and many poorer after navigating through this current (2-3 years?) storm.

Sold the AKAM, ARBA (@ loss), EBAY, JDSU, OPWV, and YHOO (@ even, but gain after accounting for option premiums) positions yesterday at open, recognizing an aggregate profit from a short duration trade, resulting in 52% gain, equivalent to two platinum watches. Will hold previously noted MSFT trade for a bit longer. Ready to do the trades again before March ends and the light gets turned off.

These do not qualify as investment moves, as investment is an activity engaged in to maintain the purchasing power of capital, speculation is engaged in to finance watch purchases without working.

Or maybe better, investment is a speculation gone well, and speculation is an investment gone bad.
