I suggested some stocks for the "January Effect" thread. They are basically smaller stocks that have suffered significant losses during the year. Tax selling will often push them further down in December, after which they are expected to bounce back in January.

My biotech/medical picks were not as good as the overall average portfolio gain of 52%, but not bad for a month. My other picks were software/internet stocks. The full list is at:

Perhaps if those of you whose advice I've relied on for the biotech stocks could sharpen up your prediction skills just a little, biotech could be competitive with the software stocks next year. You know who you are, TIA. <g>

(This was a very softball 'contest,' no transaction costs, and closing prices used. In real life friction is substantial on these low priced stocks.)
