I've had luck with the slow cooker with a chunk of meat and some bar-b-que sauce. I've also done the meat, spuds, toss in some carrots, celery and onions.

For a change, put in a chicken, spuds and a can of Cream of either Mushroom or Chicken Soup. Falling off the bone chicken and gravy for the taters.
