My ex-father in law lives in Pompano Beach FL,
right on the canals and you have to time the tide to get under the bridges to either go in or out and one time
we got caught between two and a couple of manatees 5-6' hung out
in the shadow of the boat with us for a little while then slowly move on. Herb was just excited as I was.

Was fun to fish in your backyard and I saw his step son'd girlfriend catch a snook almost as big as her. Had one on but had a bird's nest I was working on when it took the bait and snap a good size-test line. It wasnt my pole, it was an old spare that we grabbed when neighbors were yelling about snook trapping the bait fish at the dead end of this particular canal Herb was living on. His other step-son missed a real big one by getting too excited and not waiting for it to mouth the minnow and struck early.

That was a fun day. Learned to throw a cast net to get the bait fish, too - not any good at it but I did get the slow ones. HA HA
