Hi daffodil,

I'm adapting Ornish notions to my own diet. I truly believe in the health advantages of the very low fat diet. And like you, I've no particular strong feelings about being a strict vegetarian. I find sashimi to be one of the great pleasures in life and no way will I give that up. As I've changed from a meat based diet, I've lost a lot of weight, gained stamina, and generally feel better and happier. I still nibble at chicken and like you, find that a bit of a wonderful cheese really accents a meal. Substituting peppers, chilies and herbs for sodium seems to have helped control excess water retention, plus giving a nice little boost to the immune system with the added Vitamin C and other anti-oxidants. Which is a whole new subject that we could bring up.

Another thing I'm considering and wondering if any on the thread have any experience with it is a supplement called "creatine". It is used by body builders for stamina, and I'm on the fence as to make use of it. Generally, my rule of thumb is that if a product has ever been processed or has a corporate logo on the label, I try to steer clear. Just wondering about making an exception here.

Oh, yes, another topic I'm interested in is vitamin and mineral supplements. I've recently heard that chellated and colloidal forms of supplements are quite superior to the more inorganically created chemical supplements. Anyone?

Bon Appetit, Ray :)
