I guess there are many interpretations including "official" vegetarianism. I'm sure most vegans consider lacto/ovo vegetarians as pagans.

I am not currently practicing vegetarianism but did for close to 10 years starting in the early 90's. I consumed marine animals (fish and crustaceans) and considered myself a vegetarian and didn't really care if I met some official nomenclature standard.

A police officer I know calls herself a vegetarian and will 'only eat things that don't have faces'. Turns out for her, that is fish, eggs, milk products.

Now with a young family I am finding it difficult to move back to vegetarianism. Recently in this region there is a father suing a mother for custody of their child since he is convinced that the vegan diet being offered the child (<5 years if I remember right) is causing malnutrition. May well be too, I've met plenty of veg*.* - all types - that didn't look healthy and were not looking after all their dietary needs (not to mention exercise and other aspects of health). Just like the 'regular' population I think.
