I read that book back in the eighties when it first came out I've been a vegetarian for 28 years. When I was in junior high school, we were shown a movie about slaughterhouses. I never ate meat again (and trust me, that caused a lot of trouble with my parents).

Anyone who saw how meat gets to your table would not eat it.

There are some great books with vegetarian recipes. Ones I currently like are

World Vegetarian

Lord Krishna's Cuisine

Heaven's Banquet

Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone

Greens Cookbook
amazon.com

The Savory Way

This Can't Be Tofu

The cuisines of India and Thailand are particularly good for vegetarians, and if you like Thai food (my favorite in the world), you can eat wonderfully without missing a thing.

Good luck.
