A few years ago a friend showed me the secret of keeping a large home warm with a wood burner. He put a large cold air return close to the ceiling above the fireplace. Then when that room gets too hot, he turns on the fan of his electric furnace and it takes the hot air and moves it through the house.

Yesterday I cut down an old apple tree and will mix the wood next year.
