Hi PW....We are on the same track...I had forgotten about wet mittens drying on the radiator or on the rack set next to the coal stove at Grandma's for drying those wet outdoor things....and had forgotten about the different tire tracks in the snow too... We were much easily amused in our earlier years, that's for sure. You didn't have appleboxes to play with by any chance did you? We used to make our "house" from them, with blankets for the roof...big rocks to hold the blankets on...we were so lucky that none of us ever had serious injury as some of the rocks were quite large. (Wonder now how large "large" was....) Other things that amused... cartoons being read on the radio, while we read along with the Sunday cartoons...all the wonderful old radio shows...Baby Snooks, One Man's Family, Green Hornet, Hopalong Cassidy, Let's Pretend...and all the etc's.. Looking for 4 leafed clovers, and for cloud shapes.... Funny, was just thinking...wonder what people who didn't have those creative experiences when they were small think about today when they are driving...are they totally reliant on the radio as passive entertainment? Or can they wonder things like: "for every person in every car I pass...what was their story this morning, and what caused them to be here at exactly the same time I am...." Cheers to you too!
