Yep, Shootie, I have driven BMWs since 1991, and will continue to do so as long as I can. For this very reason.
My husband and I were driving on the highway and he hit on of those metal bands that trucks leave behind. Blew out both left side tires. The car did not swerve, was easily managed, and we got to the shoulder without any problem.

Oh, yes, my husband was driving. hehe
