Weather is nice and I've been leaving the front door open for a little while in the morning to let "the baby" (Kiwi) out. I let her brothers in and out all day long, and she's been scratching at the door crying to go out, too. I let her go out once a day in the morning when the traffic is light, either early morning or midmorning, and she always brings back a rodent. I think it's shrews - we are still finding them on the front stoop every day. Four this Sunday.

She's got one in the room with me, even as I type. It's dead (I hope - it's not moving - they never do) but she's just having a ball tossing it up in the air and running to catch it, rolling over and playing with it like kittens do with a ball of yarn. I don't have the heart to take it away from her until she loses interest. Then I will pick it up with a paper towel and put it in the trash.

She's not really a baby anymore, a year old next month, but she's still my baby. She follows me around from room to room, up and down the stairs. She sleeps outside my bedroom door and sometimes puts her paws into the room under the door and pops her claws on the carpet to be let in.
