Serving the PC enthusiast for almost 2x10to the minus two centuries, cute motto.

Funny thing is, the kids each own INTC, MSFT and DELL but no AMD.

Or ESTEBAN either, for that matter.

That occurs to me each time I have something negative to say about any of them. But the fact of the matter is, it's just astounding how much trouble this has been. Yesterday and Wednesday, right after the market closed, the Dell had a Fatal Exception. Almost as if on cue, like it runs off it's inner clock.

The only programs running on it, each time, were Tradestation and Netscape. Also Norton's Systemworks. Oddly, this last round of problems started right after installing NSW and so I had Junior take it off. I felt bad for him last night, he took almost two hours to get it back up and running, He had to re-install mouse drivers.

Anyway, now the only stuff running is TS and Netscape. If it fails again, I'll move TS to one of the new machines and see if it can stay up then. Failing that, I'm just going to leave it up for a week with nothing running, disconnecting the cable modem.

It's really a shame, but it's like I was ranting to my son last night. If you had a car that you had to Fix Or Repair Daily I don't think you would be driving much. I'm not an auto mechanic, I have a different job. The car helps me to perform that job. If it does not work, I'm not going to tinker with it; I'm getting rid of it. Buying another FORD to replace it ain't in the cards.
