Sam, you are correct. As long as interactive 2- way video is not prevalent. Also as costs come down for 2-way HFC systems(about 30% so far),they become more practical. I expect to see next year all optical networks introduced from LU for metropolitan areas, with optical cross connects. The bandwidth issue is more on the lines of how fast we need to increase it to get the new technoligies into our homes. The internet will drive demand for bandwidth,as will convergance between T.V. and computers. Remember technology growth, and bandwidth demand will grow exponentially. I still think rural areas will have wireless as the main means of telecom, and less affluent will have 1- way coaxial.
