I noticed it as well and was short at the time. The thought process I went through was fairly simple. The huge TICK run did not cause a buying run on the spoos. Yes, they moved up, but well after the TICK made its run. Once the TICK was over 1,000, it had to come back down, more likely than not. Therefore, as it did I expected the spoos to drop like a rock and perhaps hit new lows on the day, so I held my short in spite of the TICK run. It seemed to me to indicate a further drop ahead, instead of the obvious, Oh $hit, it is about to run.....

At least that was the thought process I had. I got lucky, it worked out.

It was very strange indeed.
