Shorters save longs asses more often than not. If you have stock in a good company, pray for every shorter to dive into it. Because when your company performs, those shorters create panic selling that sends your stock through the roof. And if there is a little market correction, those shorters provide support for your stock as they buy to cover their position.

The only stocks that this model doesn't work for are the POS scams that are going to go to zero and the shorters know that they will never have to cover. You can tell which ones those are because you will hear the scammer call to arms "call in yer certs!!!". These are the limping diseased prey that you refer to, and just like in nature, these are the prey that the predators will target. And there ain't nothing wrong with it. It is part of the plan and it is healthy.

I disagree with your definition of shorters as scavangers...though in some cases....

In most cases they are predators...and they will be drawn to the weak and diseased prey. If they attack healthy and strong prey, they will get hurt. It is no less noble to be a lion than it is to be a healthy gazelle.
