A few weeks ago in order to go beyond looking at the news headlines and actually read the news text via the Qcharts web browser, I was forced to upgrade my registration to the Quote.Com web site (giving them more personal information and agreeing to some new terms of use). I was assigned a new password to access the Quote.Com web site. However, I continued to use my existing Qcharts/Qfeed password to connect Qcharts to Qfeed. It worked so I assumed I now had two passwords, one for Qcharts and one for the Quote.Com web site. Nothing from Quote.Com indicated differently.

After this recent Qcharts software upgrade it turns out (no one from Qcharts/Qfeed knew this), that I had to start using the recently assigned password for the Quote.Com web site for Qcharts/Qfeed as well.

Instead of the message I was getting in the above linked post, I should have been getting a password error message. I only found out by trial and error that the new Quote.Com web site password would now work for Qcharts. Later the need to stop using my old password and switch to the new password was confirmed by a Qchart/Qfeed technical service rep.

I thought I would share this in case it helps. If you are being logged off, call customer service and make sure you’re using the right password yours may have been changed.

Regards,
LG
