So BEAS won't be a gorilla (I didn't realize it had gorilla possibilities though the Fidelity rep told me it's Fidelity's favorite stock to buy)...but SEBL will be a stronger one? Why?

If you have time, I suggest you go back and read Mike's post once again because it appears you misunderstood what it was he wrote. BEA Systems is in the operating system solution for e-business against IBM and Oracle. So the collaborative announcement to deliver an application adapter that will facilate Siebel's e-business applications to run on BEA's WebLogic platform is good news for both companies. For BEA Systems, it adds the dominant gorilla in the CRM applications arena to its value chain. For Siebel, it opens them up to the 4000+ customers that do operate the BEA WebLogic platform.

Here's the announcement being discussed:

Adding Siebel to BEA System's value chain by means of Siebel choosing the BEA platform to port/adapt their CRM products to was one of the icing on the cake additions that BEAS shareholders have been waiting for over the past months. BEA Systems has the e-business operating system as their core target niche while Siebel's core niche is of course CRM applications - be it on a client-server based architecture or now adapting those applications for the internet based WebLogic e-business platform that BEA Systems has.

"Siebel Systems and BEA have agreed to collaborate on the delivery of an application adapter between Siebel eBusiness Applications and BEA WebLogic(R) Integration. In addition to joint marketing and targeted sales efforts, the collaboration further extends integration development between Siebel eBusiness Applications and the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform(TM). This expansion will build on the strong technology relationship that supports more than 60 joint customers to date."

And here is the cat fight spat that broke out yesterday between Oracle's Ellison and BEA Systems' Coleman on stage in front of several thousand Java programmers:

I'm sure that Tom Siebel is more than happy to be on the same side of the cat fight with Bill Coleman when it comes to Ellison. <gg>
