<<The effect all of the south of the border illegal workers will have on the US economy.>>

They undoubtedly will have some effect, but those "illegal workers" are "working".<g> and are earning money albeit at lower wages and sending a good part of their earnings to their relatives down South. (Several of the Central American countries derive a substantial amount of their gross national income from dollars sent to relatives of "illegal workers".) That probably cuts down on our "foreign aid" tab.<g>

One impact is the burden on schools and health care caused at the local level by those "illegal workers".

I think there is going to be a larger impact on the economy from the "aging baby boomers". The working population have been sustaining the "retirement status" ( through Social Security & Medicare taxes) of our "aging population" and that is going to change as the "working class" decreases and the "aging or retired class" increases % wise, specially if the "average life expectancy" keeps increasing thanks to all those "new & expensive miracle drugs and treatments" like renal dialysis, organ transplants, CABGs (coronary artery by-pass grafts),(including prolongation of life of people with terminal or incurable illness). It is widely known that the cost of medical care in the last year of life is often times larger than the previous cost for the person's entire life.

Another item that will have an impact on our economy is our perennial "trade imbalance". I remember during Eisenhower's tenure, there was concern because our "trade imbalance" was going to exceed 18 billions for the year.<g> That's just a portion of our "monthly imbalance" these days.<g>Of course we have done away with the "gold standard" and "silver backed certificates"( I think I still may have a couple of those.<g>) so our "dollar" is in effect "just paper money" and uncle Al can print more of it as he thinks is needed. The problem is that other countries holding the "dollars" may sometime become suspicious of their "actual value" and if that ever happens it could really cause a "catastrophic panic".

Well all those things are really complicated and let's hope we don't live long enough to have to worry about it, we just have enough of other more pressing things to worry, like a big meteorite hitting planet earth or the start of a nuclear war during which our "missile defense" may not be fully effective.<g>

On the other hand and on second thought, I think is better for me not to even think about it and that way I will just let other people worry.<g>
