Yeah, it's the coffee. I have been working on taxes for almost a week. Got an extension on the 2000 taxes, which are due tomorrow. Discovered a way to save money on my 1998 taxes, so have been working on an amended 1998 return. I got a humongous check in the later part of 1998, which threw my estimated taxes all to hell, but if I break down adjusted gross income by quarter, that saves me a lot of money, over $1000. That changes my 1998 state, 1999 federal, and 1999 state.

I use QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax, and have been aghast to find - not exactly mistakes, but let's call them mishaps. Some expenses were not linked in from Quickbooks to TurboTax because I did not assign them to a line on my Schedule C. Ok, I screwed up, but this really isn't my bag. Then tonight while giving it the final look-see, I found out that I handled my auto expenses all wrong - well, it wasn't me, it was the program but I didn't notice it until now.

I think it would probably have been easier and more accurate to do it by hand.

There is a maxim in the computer biz, garbage in, garbage out, but this wasn't garbage in - the program is set up screwy, IMO.
