RE: Laid off IT people... Sergio, you've made some good recent points, and I enjoy your posts - but I should point out that many people in IT are working as consultants/contractors. These positions pay well, but if someone loses a contract, there is no severance, as you are not an employee. Also - from experience (I'm a computer consultant also) the market is a number of areas of the country is fairly dead right now - not just slow. I've been doing some short-term contracts myself, but many recruiters have said their phones are just not ringing at all. No clients = no contracts. Again, I enjoy your posts, and the 13 thread is one of the best on SI, IMO. Matt
