I trade a minimum of 500 shares and a max of 1000. I pay $14.95 for the trade and use the ten day resistence and support levels for major swings and 2 day r & s levels for quick in and out points. I try to only trade at these points and if the stock makes one trade through those points and I am betting on it going the other way I get out and look at what I've done wrong or what market news or stock news has made this happen. With the split coming in July the stock usually has an upward bias so if I'm short I'm quick to cover.
