Exactly. One of the few areas that can justifiably be kept in the "well, let's not explore that in detail, shall we?" category.
What happens is this: to fill air time the media hire experts, who in turn want to earn their $10k retainer and not just sit there, but show how smart they are so they can get the next retainer. So the guy from Jane's talks on public TV about the best way, if you want to do it right and kill the most people, to distribute Anthrax. I'm comfortable with that. Next, let's talk about the proper way to hold a knife when slitting a flight attendants throat.
I almost always concentrate on more open media, but come on. We don't need new laws, just enforce something about advocating violent overthrow of the gov't, creating public hazard, or similar to shut these smart guys up. We're all so very impressed with their lifetime accumulation of until-now useless knowledge.
I was encouraged to see an interview with Dick Marcinko, the Navy Seal / author, being interviewed by Chris Wallace, who, like the usual pandering idiot kept harping on "well, what was it like, to kill people, kill them dead, and that killing kill stuff?". Finally Marcinko said, no, it's not heroics to snuff people and we're not killing machines, it's just survival, you twerp. (I made up the twerp part, but that was his gen'l attitude). |
