It's somewhat possible a ULBI news leak was responsible for VLNC's fall but would ULBI be down 1/4 yesterday as VLNC was down 1? I would think the VLNC money would have flowed to ULBI yesterday.

FMK found out from VLNC that their cell phone battery was coming in at 130 Wh/Kg and the notebook battery at 150 Wh/Kg. The difference is due to the relatively greater proportion of active materials in the larger package. Those figures compare very well with other figures I've found on the web regarding lithium ion or polymer batteries.

PolyStor has a ICR-18650 (wet) cell that is 110 Wh/Kg.

Hitachi-Maxell has a li poly cell that is note card sized (3" X 5") and 5 mm thick. The volumetric energy computes to about 200 Wh/LITER. The capacity is 3000 mAh @ 3.6v. That's 10 Wh. I don't have the weights involved to give the Wh/Kg for the apples to apples comparison.

VLNC's typical cell phone battery will be 2 4.56 Wh cells in series. That gives 9.1 Wh and is comparable to the Hitachi-Maxell battery above.
