RE: EMC's manufactured market share numbers

It has to do with math Gus, not definitions. To help you out, I've replaced SAN and NAS with BLUE_MARBLES and RED_MARBLES. The NIS revenue is TOTAL_MARBLES which comprises BLUE_MARBLES + RED_MARBLES [1].
So, just focus on the math and explain to us why TOTAL_MARBLES does not equal BLUE_MARBLES + RED_MARBLES:
1. EMC said their last quarter TOTAL_MARBLES (BLUE_MARBLES+RED_MARBLES) revenue was $449M.
2. EMC said their last quarter BLUE_MARBLES revenue was $385M.
3. EMC said their last quarter RED_MARBLES revenue was $148M.
4. If you subtract EMC's individual BLUE_MARBLES and RED_MARBLES revenue from the combined reported TOTAL_MARBLES revenue, you get -$84M, meaning, there's something missing, namely $84M.
5. EMC says there's nothing missing, it's just an "overlap" meaning there's some BLUE_MARBLES revenue in the RED_MARBLES revenue (like chocolate in the peanut butter, two, two, two revenue streams slightly combined).
6. However, we shouldn't take the $84M out of the $148M RED_MARBLES revenue, nor should we take the $84M out of the $385M BLUE_MARBLES revenue, we should accept "EMC math" which says $385M + $148M = $449M?
[1] KEY: TOTAL_MARBLES = NIS (NIS is total of SAN+NAS) BLUE_MARBLES = SAN RED_MARBLES = NAS
