Hi JF....Thanks for the Popular Science description of the centrifugal compressor. Let's hope it works out for air conditioning applications. Big saving in electrical power consumption with all the attendant benefits that would bring to the worlds' economy and environment. As you know helium gas is the only refrigerant that can be used at cryopump operating temperatures. That choice effectively rules out the use of this new compressor design for cryopumps and other low temperature applications where helium is the refrigerant. Celebrating the holidays with family and friends, for me it doesn't get better than that. Best....jtj
