I got a call yesterday from a totally whacked out woman looking for a lawyer to sue the people who were making voices in her house. I had a hard time understanding what she was saying, but I think she said the post office and the FBI had put bugs in her house and she thought they were making the voices. I did not know what to tell her, so I told her she did not need a lawyer, she should call the police, hoping to myself that maybe the police would take her to a mental hospital. But she said she had called the police and they would not do anything.

I asked if she had any family to help her, and she said her family did not live with her. That was a relief, I was afraid she had little children.

I suggested that she try a private detective to see if her house was really bugged.

Now I feel guilty and wish I had told her the truth, that she sounded like she needed to see a mental health professional. I wonder if there was any way to get her to a mental health professional. I guess if she is totally whacked out then she'll start screwing up with paying rent or mortgage or taxes or something and eventually she'll come into their radar screen.

Or maybe the world is full of people who function just fine except for the voices?
