Spell checkers, to be truly useful, ought to be spell correctors. I have stopped using SI's spell checker because it does not correct anything or provide suggestions for a correct spelling. If my misspelling is more than just a typo, telling me it is misspelled helps little, if at all. I still have to look elsewhere to figure out how to spell the word correctly.

Now, I generally cut and paste all proposed posts into a separate new file (on AOL, but it could be WordPad or Notepad) and spell check them there. The spell checkers there give me not only proposed corrections, but also allow the correction to be made with a single key stroke. Much more efficient than repeatedly hitting "Edit" and "Preview."

It generally takes less time to do it that way than it takes for the first "Preview" window to open.
