I do not believe SI is long for this world. I certainly hope that I am wrong on this point. But the posting rate has declined dramatically over the past year. And with companies looking to stop the hemorraging of cash, I believe INSP will make SI a quaint memory for us all. In any case, where would people congregate to discuss technology stocks should SI become defunct? Surely Yahoo is not even a choice as a serious alternative. We need an exit strategy. Buy SI's database. No software. Just the accounts and messages on a few DVD-ROM's or tapes. 2. Plug it into a site like iHub, whose software, while still very undeveloped, is relatively functional and stable. 3. Grandfather all of SI's active members in via their accounts you got in Step 1. 4. Have enough in the bank to keep it rolling while you wait for SI's members to get active about posting. 5. Open the doors to new users, possibly charging for posting privileges, possibly not, but definitely charging them for enhanced features (multi-message view, no ads, etc) 6. Develop the software and when it's ready, deploy it elsewhere. ************************ marketnoize.com as suggested by mnoize Thanks to Ed Pakstas for talkstox.com Thanks to John Busby for passing this along from INSP management: Message 17729913 Passed along to me via PM: forbes.com Usenet/Google Groups google.com Othernet IRC server (financial chatrooms) irc://othernet Silicon Investor and Ihub to merge....down the road: Message 18951917 | ||||||||||||
