Is there a list anywhere tracking the privately held companies?

A small company that can run on 2-4 warm bodies can be profitable. There's no reason for such a company to go public and I suspect that there are plenty of private ones that're doing just fine.

IH is currently getting about 1200 posts and 100k hits per day and it appears it could do nearly 10 times this without spending another dime on hardware.
