..Old telephone books make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and addresses of people you don't know.

Reminds me of a funny thing that happened at my house during
a get together in the early 80's. My friends and I went through
a phase where we'd get wasted and play Scrabble all night. It
was around the same time everyone else was playing Trivial Pursuit.
Any how one night while I was sitting out a game with a few
friends a few other friends started a game with some new rules.
Instead of no proper nouns ONLY proper nouns and instead of 7
tiles, each player got 8. Acceptable proper nouns included
famous last names and people we knew. After about a 1/2
hour a major argument broke about a name. I forget what the
name was but one person swore they had a classmate in college
with the name and someone else said "No way!". Since it was
my house I was chosen to settle the dispute. I thought about
it for a few seconds then reached over to a shelf a few feet
from where the game was being played and handed the participants
a phone book. The name wasn't in it. They continued to use
the phone book the way normal people use a dictionary when
playing Scrabble. I'm sure most of you won't find this that
funny but anyone who went through a similar phase will hopefully
enjoy it.
