Whoa! Paul! What is Yoda saying ? There are squiggly lines on the screen next to me here that say what the hand of mankind has done unto NASDAQ let it do undo the DOW and its friends next. I think GOOFS need to be generally pathetically disgusting, and personally embarassing. This WGO [looks like Yoda bought in it in a January rainstorm] is looking like something my Mom would be proud that I acquired [definitely unGOOFY-like]. Besides I have no money today, and the margin desk continues to call. Bummer. I take a certain personal pride at finding really depressed and disgusting situations.
My current position was established in xico starting in 1994. Now there was a sorry basket case if there ever was one. Classic semiconductor new-wave startup in the 80's, popped into the high 20s, fell on its face, managed to achieve 20 consecutive negative results quarters!!!
There's an enviable GOOFS track record. So miserable at its nadir that a mere 75 cents could acquire a share. I stumbled through the front door of this company when it was up to the elevated price of $2.625 and had just posted its first better than zero quarter. Recognizing that it was below the radar screens of all self-respecting analysts, and having some confidence it wasn't going out of business after I walked the halls a bit, I started scooping up a few shares here and there. Caught a nice uplift last year on the rise from 3 to 6, then again this year from 6 to 13ish. Been sagging in the wake of the semi wreck, now down to 9ish, but the fundamentals have only changed for the better, so still holding on to the life-raft.
Hence my basic question of when to abandon it and swim for shore ? My current view is to re-review this option seriously next Apr/May unless the story changes sooner for the worse. Or other valuable insight proves that the end of all markets are soon to be upon us, in which case I'll switch to net-based video games for entertainment.
There has been a sort of quiet prevading this general zone of net reality this weekend. I sort of sense a spirit of forboding...Many posts are talking of negative slope orientated activity. I guess to the tech world the big question is what will intc deliver to its doorstep on Tuesday ? $2.5B in change switched hands over this issue the last 2 days, only bruising it a skosh. Msft on the otherhand joined the negative parade. From the GOOFS perspective, this negative bias will soon make prospecting a much easier profession. Only problem will be telling the gems from the fakes.
Enjoy the ride in the roadhome, someday soon the boomers will start buying 'em like wedding toasters.
