<<<For sure, a lot is asked of native-born Americans with no experience of foreign occupation or tyranny, to see all this in the same light as those who lived through it.>>

In the early 60's we had the "Fair Play for Cuba Committee" with (among others) the attorney Mr.Kunstler which later defended the "Chicago 7".. I remember how much free TV time was given to the committee.

A year or two later Mr.Castro declared that he was a "Marxist Leninist".

Now we have a growing group including a few US senators trying to get a "better treatment" for Mr.Castro so he will "open more his society".

And others criticize Otto Reich for saying ( with some questionable misinformation.<g>) that Mr.Chavez had resigned and are organizing marches around the Capitol to denounce US help to Colombia in fighting terrorists and drug traffickers.

I am not so sure if "a lot is asked of native-born Americans to understand " or if a good many native-born Americans still are naive enough to think that "socialism" or "communism" are better systems and it is better to have "comrades" than "fellow citizens:..<g>
