I think we are going to see a major upheaval here, as more money is re-patriated to whence it came.
The other shoe to drop may be a run on the US dollar, one that would make the recent weakness look like a walk in the park. This war biz in not a good thing either.
Debt ceilings being hit, etc, etc....

Add in Israel is going to be making a pay-back move soon,
India/Pakistan are close to releasing some of their nuke stockpiles on each other, Bush-lite thinks the rest of the world wants to join him in another "ground war" againt Iraq, and things seem to be getting a bit dark to me.
What do you think?

William:

Out of the ashes comes the Phoenix... I don't think India and Pakistan want to irradiate half their populations regardless of the pompous rhetoric... The U.S. and Russia will work behind the scenes to cool things down...

The Mid East will continue to percolate until responsible Arab Nations take a stand against terrorism... Otherwise they lose their cushy thrones to the fundamentalist mob... Remember Khomenie in Iran, it can happen elsewhere unless the moderates move to democratize and stand against terrorism...

Corporate America got itself into this mess concerning cooked books and crooked brokerage houses... But, as bad as it is, the crookedness is less than abroad... So, I believe that most of that overseas money will stay right here... There will probably be a tendency for investors to stay with the large blue chip companies with established reporting histories... Caveat... Some of these icons have been using 401k profits to camouflage their earnings... Sort of like what the U.S. gov't has been doing with those Social Security surpluses to pump up the past budget surpluses...

So, what does one do??? Buy a big mattress... : > Capital preservation and short term trading off support and resistance levels make sense for now...
