Volume is tapering down.

An interesting observation:
Between 10:00 and 11:30 every intraday chart I was watching went flat. My read on that was that the DOW crossed 8000 at that time and everyone was waiting to see if there was gonna be a round of profit taking like happened when it hit 7800.
Apparently nothing significant happened and the market went on.
Anybody else notice that?
