<I see AMD has paper launched a higher speed Athlon>
I systems are truly available from OEMs in September as promised, its like a normal P4 launch.

<Hammer demos beyond 800MHz>
I hope you realize that prior to Computex in Taipei on June 6 there was a rumor that motherboard manufacturers were going to showcase working Clawhammers in their products, but then the idea was canned. But a couple of the placards from MSI seen at the event still said "CPU Frequency 1.6GHz." Here's a photo of it from ocworkbench.com

The placard looks like one designed to be placed beside a running system, doesn't it? Otherwise, it would have emphasized the range of CPU speeds it supports, rather than a single speed.

Besides that, why should Clawhammer scale any worse than TBred in CPU speed? All of the TBred 2.13 GHz ("2600+") samples checked by reviewers ran with air-cooling at at least 2.3 GHz. Clawhammer's got SOI and two additional pipeline stages to boost its frequency. Finally, the specs on power regulator chips for the Clawhammer show that heat will NOT be a limiting issue w.r.t. clock speed, simply because the maximum current draw is only 40A and Hammer's voltage must be a 1.4v or even lower.
