Yeah. Why don't we privatize SS instead of giving the gov't a big slush fund it can steal from instead of controlling its bad habits?

How about: You must save x% of your income each year. If you do not, that money will be collected as taxes by the gov't. So you might as well do it; it'll be gone anyway. The money must remain in approved classes of investments until a minimum age. Early withdrawal will result in the gov't taking whatever you withdrew as taxes. And financial institutions will be fined if they knowingly permit early withdrawal.
