Marsman, Granny might not have even known Tiramasu existed......I've never had it made from scratch.....only commercial...and I still love it. Granny was very basic.....but the flavors were near impossible to duplicate.... Gently fried eggplant in olive oil with just a pinch of salt.....ever so lightly breaded..... baked chicken with cracked peppercorn and rosemary.....drowning in olive oil..... breaded and baked veal.....with finely chopped garlic.... a meat ball.....that fell apart just by looking at it gently.......... Shootie
